Moka Instructions
Welcome to your new Moka – Italian Stovetop Coffee Machine
The moka is light, strong and reliable and can be taken anywhere. It's so easy to use, whether in your kitchen at home or out camping!
Moka Instructions
1. |
Fill the bottom half of the moka with water, up to the level of the security valve. |
2. |
Insert the coffee filter and fill with ground coffee, evenly up to the top. No need to pack the coffee down firmly, just level it flat. |
3. |
Make sure the rim of the coffee filter is clean of coffee grounds. Screw on the top half of the moka until it’s firm and very tight. |
4. |
Place your moka on a small element. For gas, keep on a low heat, so that the flames don’t flare up the sides of the moka. |
5. |
Keep on the heat until you hear the satisfying sound of the coffee bubbling and shooting up. The sound will increase as it bubbles and steams more fiercely. |
6. |
Wait a few more seconds. When the peak of the sound and pressure has been reached, turn off the heat. |
7. |
Your coffee is ready to enjoy! |
Your moka is easy to care for, and will make perfect coffee for many years of enjoyment.
Care and Cleaning
- Throw away the first coffee you make. The moka is still new and the coffee needs to coat its surface.
- Never use soap or detergent inside the top half of the moka. For cleaning, just rinse with water.
- Don’t wash in the dishwasher and don’t use abrasive cleaners or steel wool products.
- Don’t leave your moka unattended. Once it starts brewing, it needs to be watched carefully, to avoid boiling the coffee or burning the gasket.
Which coffee should I use for my Moka?
Use freshly ground coffee in your moka. The grind should be slightly finer than plunger grind.
